Capital Ideas: In Conversation with Ken McGill
May 22 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pmFree
Football is a remarkable game. And it can do extraordinary things to rational people. The rewards are great, the pressures greater.
In 1994 Ken McGill directed a British documentary, “An Impossible Job”, about Graham Taylor, England manager, as he led the team to a heart-breaking defeat in 1994 World Cup Semi-Finals. It’s a film regarded as a perfect expression of the mad realities and pressures of football life. Graham Taylor’s later success and widely lamented death earlier this year has brought this unique film back to public attention. And Ken is much in demand speaking about it, and the moral and practical issues he faced when making it.
“An Impossible Job” remains one of the great depictions of a moral and decent man battling the odds in a mad world.
On Monday 22nd May Ken will be discussing his film, and the making of it, at Capital Law. Join us for our 9th Capital Ideas event and take part in the discussion.
