Nicola joined the Commercial Disputes team at Capital Law in June 2015 after nine years in the Dispute Resolution team at Baker & McKenzie in London. Nicola is also part of the Regulatory, Media and Construction teams at Capital.
Nicola is an experienced commercial litigator with a focus on regulatory matters, with particular experience in the media, healthcare and sport. She advises the likes of the British Medical Association, Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Royal Mint, Cardiff City FC, Welsh Language Commissioner and Future Generations Commissioner on public law/ regulatory matters.
Nicola’s core skills include:
- advising public bodies on their powers and decision making processes
- judicial review
- Freedom of Information Act 2000 and data protection issues
- risk and reputation management
- conducting and supervising investigations
- running complex litigation from High Court to Supreme Court, and LCIA and ICC arbitrations
- reviewing commercial contracts
- advising on mediation and other Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms
Nicola has undertaken a number of secondments during her career including to Baker McKenzie’s office in Melbourne, Australia, and client secondments at the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care, Accenture and the Merchant Navy Officers Pension Fund.
