Nicola is a Commercial and Intellectual Property (IP) specialist. She originally trained as a Corporate/Commercial lawyer but over time has developed her interest and work in the commercial and IP arena.

Nicola advises clients on various aspects of IP, including:

  • protection of intellectual property
  • branding
  • IP strategy
  • data protection
  • data- theft
  • e-commerce
  • e-procurement and logistics
  • e-retailing and m-retailing
  • advising on how to use technologies including block-chain/cloud computing/AI and Internet of things for business.

Nicola is an experienced trainer and regularly presents on company law, corporate transactions and IP law.

Nicola is a non-executive director of Business in Focus Limited and works with the University of South Wales Business Advice Clinic to support smaller, start up businesses.

Since March 2013, Nicola has worked on part-time secondment to The Royal Mint supporting their in-house legal counsel with IP matters. From February 2017 to date, she has worked on full-time secondment for RM Assets Limited, a subsidiary of The Royal Mint, in the launch of their new digital gold product, RMG (Royal Mint Gold). RMG uses blockchain technology to evidence an immutable record of ownership of the digital gold.  RMG are traded on a bespoke Digital Asset Trading platform which is provided by CME Digital Limited, part of the CME Group – see www.royalmint.com/rmg.
